New Guides Available: Learn about Patient Safety and Effective Database Searching

April 28, 2011 at 3:38 pm

The Libraries are pleased to announce the creation of two new guides to help Mayo Clinic staff and students learn. Please note: These links are only available within Mayo Clinic.

The first new guide, Culture of Patient Safety, looks at the twelve dimensions of patient safety and provides library resources to help managers and employees work on any concerns discovered through the recent Culture of Patient Safety survey. The library resources for each dimension might include books, videos, audio books, reports, and recent articles from the journal literature on each topic. Contact Culture of Patient Safety guide creators Karen Larsen, Dana Gerberi, Shelby Jensen, and Beth Miller with questions or comments.

The second new guide, Effective Database Searching, guides searchers through the maze of database options available through the Libraries and on the web. Each database is described with its strengths and limitations; help resources and tutorials (both text-based and video) are linked for each database. The Effective Database Searching guide should help even new searchers pick what databases work best for their search topics. Contact guide creators Karen Larsen, Dana Gerberi, and Dottie Hawthorne with questions or comments.

These two new guides are part of the Libraries’ new Help, Guides, and Libraries pages.
