New Library Catalog Feature

April 30, 2014 at 11:41 am

Library users who are searching our online catalog can now request books, CDs, DVDs and journals (but not articles) directly from the catalog. This is a nifty feature for our users–but it requires some setup.

  1. You need to have a record in our library database. And that record needs to include a barcode number. We now use the barcode number from your Mayo ID badge– we are no  longer using library-specific cards. If you’re not sure whether your record contains a barcode number, please call your local campus library to have them check for you.
  2. Once you have a barcode number in your record, you’ll need to set up a PIN– this is to protect your privacy. You can set up your PIN at The PIN has to be 4 numbers. Don’t use numbers like 1111 or 1212.
  3. OK– you’ve got your barcode number and your PIN so you’re ready to start requesting! This video tutorial will run you through the steps of placing a request.
