Liblog 50 - Lisa MarksMayo Clinic Libraries welcomes Lisa Marks to Mayo Clinic Arizona. Lisa joined the Mayo Clinic Libraries team on February 3, 2014 as Arizona Director of Libraries. Lisa provides site leadership for the four Arizona libraries, historical archives, and humanities in medicine program. Lisa has been a medical librarian for more than 20 years. Her career began at Kaiser Permanente in Panorama City, California followed by Audio Digest Foundation in Glendale, California and most recently Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California.

In addition to a wealth of experience assisting clinicians, nurses, and patients with their information needs, Lisa has been very active in the Medical Library Group of Southern California and Arizona (MLGSCA), a local chapter of the Medical Library Association (MLA). Lisa received the Louise Darling MLGSCA Achievement Award in 2013 as an acknowledgement of her professional accomplishments, energy, and drive within MLGSCA and beyond. The Achievement Award is the highest award for MLGSCA. Other awards have included the 2013 MLGSCA Professional Development Award, and a 2012 Travel Grant Award from the MLA Hospital Libraries Section. Lisa has participated in many MLGSCA roles including Treasurer, Professional Issues Chair, and Chapter President. In 2012, she developed the MLGSCA Symposium entitled “Information Treasure Hunt: Supporting Evidence-Based Practice@ Your Institution”. Lisa also contributed three posters at chapter meetings including “Use of MegaMeeting for Our Chapter’s CE Programs”; “Consumer Health Library within the Cancer Center at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center”; and, “Operation Medical Libraries Project”. Currently Lisa is serving as co-editor of National Network, the e-newsletter of MLA’s Hospital Libraries Section.
