Coming soon… to your device

October 30, 2014 at 11:12 am

In Liblog‘s July issue, we wrote about the impending release of the Mayo Library’s new website– we explained why we needed a new site, and highlighted some of the new features. Based on feedback from usability testing, our designers and programmers have made modifications to the site, and just now sprinted to the finish line with last minute tweaks. We gave library staff first crack at the site so they could knock on it even more and find any remaining bugs that needed to be fixed. Now you, our library users, get to test drive the new site. (NOTE: this will only be available on the Mayo intranet. Internet access via a proxy server for Mayo employees and students will be phased in at a later date.)

When you access the site from a computer connected to the Mayo network, you’ll automatically be logged in to the website.  This will allow you to star your favorite databases, ejournals and ebooks, and it will auto-fill request forms for articles, book orders and current awareness.

You can also access the site with your smartphone or tablet; it will recognize the device you’re using and resize the screen accordingly.
This is how it will look on an iPhone 5:

We hope you like the new site. You can use the “send feedback”

button on the site to let us know how we’re doing.
